Award-Winning Author Plans Visit to Sarasota Military Academy

Kyle Prue, author of ‘The Feud’ trilogy, which includes award-winning ‘The Sparks’, will visit Sarasota Military Academy (SMA), on Thursday, August 22, 2019 to speak to students and staff at the SMA high school and SMA Prep middle school campuses.

Prue began writing ‘The Sparks’, the first book in ‘The Feud’ series, at the age of 16 years old and his books have won numerous national and international awards including the FAPA President’s Book Awards for Best Fiction and Best Fantasy for Young Adults in both 2015 and 2017. Prue is also the founder of Sparking Literacy, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring teens to read, write and follow their dreams in an attempt to lower the high school dropout rate.

“We are so excited to have esteemed author Kyle Prue visit SMA and speak to our cadets and staff,” said SMA-COL Christina Bowman, Sarasota Military Academy Executive Director of Schools. “His writing and passion for increasing literacy is something that resonates with our Academy and we look forward to hearing his story and seeing our cadets leave, inspired and ready to achieve great things.”

Select students read ‘The Sparks’ novel during summer break, and will attend a “Meet the Author” breakfast sponsored by SMA parent Joanne Fabec. Students and staff will have an opportunity to purchase copies of the book for Prue to sign, following the assembly.
