The donated items, which included graduated cylinders, Erlenmeyer flasks, test tubes, pipettes, mortar and pestles, volumetric flasks and beakers, were gifted by Bottorff and the donation is valued at $5,000. The glassware will be used in science courses and labs including Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Marine Biology and Environmental Science.
“Receiving a donation of this size, a collection of lab equipment that can be used in various ways throughout our curriculum, is an incredible gift to our Academy and our cadets,” said SMA-CPT Gabriella Elmir, Sarasota Military Academy IB/Biology Instructor. “We appreciate Mr. Bottorff’s generosity that will give our students the opportunity to have a more hands-on approach to learning and will help to cultivate their scientific interests.”
“I am incredibly honored to gift these items to the staff and students of Sarasota Military Academy,” said Alex Bottorff. “Giving back to our community and investing in the lives of the students at SMA is a great opportunity to bless other students. My faith is one of my biggest motivations for giving back – I believe, by sowing into the lives of these students and their teachers, the community will reap great rewards.”
